Week 6 (17th August 2003):
Parklife 5.V.0 Euro Shutters

WALK-OVER

Irony. Euro Shutters were Parklife's saving grace yesterday as they decided to throw the match IN FEAR that Parklife would mutalate them! It came as two of the Shutters players were away on holiday leaving them with an under-strength side and they told Ricky Price they would rather conceed the five-nil walk-over against Parklife than suffer a heavy defeat. The Shutters decision to save face were Parklife's saving grace as the boys suffered after-effects from the tournament on Saturday. Justin Hopwood was left with a bare five players, four of which injured or fatigued. Matt Frohock and Steve Rackley, who worked night shifts only had a few hours sleep and Steve Rackley had aggrivated his finger injury in a clash. Brad Hopwood was fatigued and Danny Siggers suffered multiple blisters on both feet during the tournament and Karl England has seen hospital treatment for a possible broken wrist. So when the boys heard the news of the free two points, they were over the moon.

However, checks should be carried out on our players to see if they are super heroes in another life as they mixed up adrenaline and powered up the energy to play not one, but TWO friendlies! In fact, they never looked better! The friendlies were played against a mixture of players at first and then against Garnon Bushes as Aztech Viking failed to attend perhaps due to their suspention from the flying fists last week. Everyone, especially Danny Siggers looked in top form as the boys played stunning but relaxing football. Even Steve Rackley showed a little skill out on pitch and gave Justin and Brad Hopwood a go in goal! Justin Hopwood got a fantastic goal, hard and low across the goalie so it was a shame it was a friendly.

So a nice night for the boys... and a big thank you to Euro Shutters for all their support!

Man of the Match (now voted by the players at the end of each match): None due to friendlies

Parklife: S.Rackley (GK, DF), M.Frohock (DF), J.Hopwood (DF, GK), B.Hopwood (FW, GK), D.Siggers (FW).
